FIWARE
FIWARE or FI-WARE is a middleware platform, driven by the European Union, for the development and global deployment of applications for Future Internet. The API specification of FIWARE is open and royalty-free, where the involvement of users and developers is critical for this platform to become a standard and reusable solution. The objective of FIWARE is to facilitate a ''cost-effective creation and delivery of Future Internet applications and services'' in a variety of areas, including smart cities, sustainable transport, logistics, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.europeanpioneers.eu/en/fiware-technologies.html )〕
== History ==
FIWARE is supported by the Future Internet Public-Private Partnership (FI-PPP) project of the European Union. Within the FI-PPP the Framework Programme 7 funded several programmes and initiatives from 2007 to 2013. The eighth programme called Horizon 2020 runs from 2014 to 2020 and provides an estimated €80 million of funding.
