Fachwirt A Fachwirt is a higher professional qualification in Germany. The Fachwirt qualification is usually followed after an apprenticeship of at least three years' duration for a recognized commercial or administrative occupation and relevant practical work. The final examinations are regulated by uniform laws of the German Vocational Training Act and are carried out by the committees of the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The DIHK created educational frameworks that define the learning objectives. The curriculum is primarily of economic nature and it provides for the acquirement of organizational and methodological know-how for the middle management as well as practical and theoretical skills for a particular industrial sector (e.g. ''Handelsfachwirt'' for Trade and Commerce, ''Verkehrsfachwirt'' for Transport Management, ''Fachwirt im Sozial- und Gesundheitswesen'' for Social and Health Services). Depending on the specialisation, the curricula suggest 400 to 800 hours of lesson. Public and private educational institutions offer courses for the final exams, nonetheless for admission to the final exams it is not mandatory to attend a training course.
