Fakhoury or variant Fakhouri is an Arabic surname in the Middle Eastern countries of Syria, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon. Its literal translation is ''pottery maker'' and Fakhouri is an Arabic name that was given to the family which adopted the craftsmanship of making pottery out of clay. The original word is ''fukhar'' which literally means clay. So if you made ''fukhar'', you were called a ''Fakhouri''.
