Farneta

Farneta is a town and ''frazione'' of the ''comune'' of Montefiorino, Italy, located in the Apennines of the province of Modena.
Located between the two hamlets of Gusciola (c. 2 km distant) and Romanoro (c. 7 km), the town in subdivided in four divisions: I Boschi, Il Monte, Il Castello and La Chiesa that since the Middle Ages battle themselves in the so-called "district games".
In 1944, during World War II, six Carthusian monks and six lay brothers of the Certosa di Farneta, together with 32 men to whom they had given shelter, were executed by Nazi SS troops at Farneta.〔(Harris, Judith. In the 1980s Farneta was the destination of numerous Italian comedians, musicians and players used to bring their show in town to amuse its local residents.
