Frygnowo (German ''Frögenau'') is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Grunwald, within Ostróda County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Central Statistical Office (GUS) - TERYT (National Register of Territorial Land Apportionment Journal) )〕 It lies approximately south of Ostróda and south-west of the regional capital Olsztyn. The village has a population of 1,000. In 1914 the fields around the village were the main battlefield of the Battle of Tannenberg, which was eventually named after the nearby village of ''Tannenberg'' (Stębark), whence the final victory note was dispatched by the German commanders. Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia). After World War II the region was placed under Polish administration and ethnically cleansed according to the post-war Potsdam Agreement. The native German populace was expelled and replaced with Poles. ==Notable residents==
