Goldlink
D’Anthony Carlos (born May 17, 1993), better known by his stage name GoldLink, is an American rapper from Washington, DC. After sharing a string of well-received tracks on Soundcloud in the second half of 2013, he self-released his debut project The God Complex in spring 2014 to widespread recognition. The mixtape—pioneering his self-described “Future Bounce” sound—accrued millions of plays on Soundcloud, capturing the attention of fans and industry figureheads around the world, including Def Jam founder Rick Rubin.〔(VSCO )〕〔http://black-butter.com/artists/goldlink〕 Following domestic tours with SBTRKT and Flume in fall 2014 and his first headline North American tour in summer 2015, GoldLink was named to XXL’s 2015 Freshman class.〔(2015 XXL Freshman Class )〕 ==Early life== Carlos was born in Washington, DC, and moved to Cheverly, Maryland during his early teens. He finished his last two years of high school in Northern Virginia, where he began making music as a hobby after graduating. He found a local studio, where he was encouraged that with his voice, charisma, and story, he could do more with his music. He began taking his craft seriously, and released his very first tracks on Bandcamp under the moniker Gold Link James.〔(Pitchfork )〕 The songs piqued interest on YouTube and within the Tumblr community, as he began to study the essentials of rap’s hierarchy and develop his signature fast-paced, biting, blending sound in light of his regional influences.
