Gowtavaram
Gowtavaram is a village in Racherla mandal, in the Prakasam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in southern India. Its population consists of about 300 families of different castes. One fourth of the population is Muslim. The dominant profession is agriculture with a small number working as teachers, policemen and in the military. There is an upper primary school with a student population of about 200. ==History== The village was formerly a part of Anumula Palli Panchayati. In 1996 it became an independent Panchayati. The first surpanch was srimati Bojja Rangamma, who was unanimously elected under the reservation system. She was from Backward caste_Women quota and has fulfilled the aspirations of the majority of the villagers with water overhead tank, cement roads, septic lavatories, and electric lighting, in addition to upgrading the erstwhile elementary school. Since she hailed from the family of shri Bojja Rangaiah-plotical sufferer-famous Ayurvedic Doctor of the two Legislative Constitutions of Cumbum and Giddalur who was founder of many agricultural techniques as a progressive ryot of commercial crops, horticulture, and allied agricultural activities. Popular teacher by imparting high quality education to improve the cream of the area to esteemed levels.
