It shows antioxydant activity.〔 It is an astringent compound.〔 It is also found in wine, red or white, aged in oak barrels. It is a castalagin glycoside〔, 〕 by binding of the pentose lyxose. It contains a nonahydroxytriphenic acid moiety.
