Gwolu Gwolu is a town in northern Ghana built in the late 19th century by people fleeing the activities of the slave raider Babatu Zato. Hilla Limann, a former Ghanaian president was born here. The name of the village itself commemorates one Gwollu (or Gbollu) Koro Limann, who had a double circular wall built round the local community in the 19th century as a defence against Babatu's raids.〔(Ghana Place Names )〕 A preserved section of the mud wall can still be seen.〔(Kasana Museum )〕 ==Sources== Hartman, Saidiya.
