Havelte is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 17 km west of Hoogeveen. Havelte was a separate municipality until 1998, when it became a part of Westerveld.〔Ad van der Meer and Onno Boonstra, "Repertorium van Nederlandse gemeenten", KNAW, 2006. ()〕 In 2001, the village of Havelte had 2770 inhabitants.
