HempMeds is an American company that sells hemp-based consumer products. It is a subsidiary of Medical Marijuana, Inc. and is partly owned by CannaBank. Hemp is classed as a Schedule I controlled substance according to the US Controlled Substances Act, however hemp products are legal to sell throughout the United States and most of the world. Following interaction with HempMeds, the company pointed to a court ruling that stated the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) couldn't regulate non-psychoactive hemp products. The move opened the door for Alaska to start accepting the sale of certain hemp-based products. CBD oil received coverage by Fox News in November 2014 at the National Marijuana Business Conference, where Doctor Rob Streisfield of HempMeds was interviewed. Much of the discussion and interview was around the potential medical effects of hemp oil, particularly its ability to suppress seizures.〔 In 2014, HempMeds was involved in a lawsuit filed by their parent company, Medical Marijuana, Inc. regarding a report by Stewart Environmental that suggested Real Scientific Hemp Oil contained heavy metals.
