== Geography ==

The mountain village of Hohegeiß lies on the B 4, a pan-Harz federal road. Neighbouring villages are Zorge to the south, Rothesütte to the southeast, Benneckenstein to the east, and Sorge to the north. The former Inner German Border (today the state border with Saxony-Anhalt) lay immediately on the eastern edge of the settlement. Near the village is the Dicke Tannen protected landscape. The border with Saxony-Anhalt (formerly the Inner German Border) runs along the northeastern edge of the village. On this border, about 3.3 km to the southeast of the village, is the tripoint for the three states which is marked by the ''Drei-Länder-Stein''.
