Indiranagar
Indiranagar is a medium-sized neighbourhood in east Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It is bounded by the Ulsoor to the west, Domlur to the south, Byappanahalli to the north and Vimanapura to the east. Indiranagar is one of the most expensive localities in Bangalore. ==History== Indiranagar was formed as a BDA layout in the early 1980s, and was named after the former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.bangalorean.co.in/2013/06/about-indira-nagar-bangalore.html )〕 In the beginning, the locality was primarily a residential area. The area was dotted with large bungalows and independent houses, mostly owned by defence personnel. The Information Technology boom in Bangalore in the late 1990s converted Indiranagar and its two arterial roads(100 Feet Road and Chinmaya Mission Hospital Road) into a commercial area.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.bangalore-property-buy.com/real-estate/property-for-sale/Bangalore-Real-Estate-Album/ )〕 Today, Indiranagar is an important residential and commercial hub of Bangalore. Indiranagar is divided into 2 stages, with the 1st stage being the largest. Unlike the southern and western areas of Bangalore which have a predominantly Kannada speaking population or the northern areas of Bangalore which have large populations of Muslims and Tamilians, Indiranagar is a cosmopolitan locality with people from all parts of India living in harmony with each other.
