Inoculum In biology, inoculum refers to the source material used for inoculation. The word is used in three senses: * In medicine, the material that is the source of the inoculation in a vaccine * In microbiology, the cells, tissue, or viruses that are used to inoculate a new culture * In forest pathology, any part of a pathogen that can cause infection of a host.
