Literally, an inquisitor is one who "searches out" or "inquires" (Latin ''inquirere'' < ''quaerere'', "to seek"). ==Description== Inquisitors were agents of the Medieval Inquisition established by the Roman Catholic Church, and of the subsequent Spanish Inquisition, Portuguese Inquisition and Roman Inquisition.
