Intelliturn
Intelliturn is a system developed by RLP Engineering to control turn signals. Instead of using a mechanical system like most cars today have for turning off the turn signal, it uses an electronic method. The most likely application of the method involves the use of a car's anti-lock braking system. == Description == Intelliturn is a computer controlled smart turn signal system that uses two or more wheel speed sensors to "map" a vehicle travel path and intelligently decide on a situation-appropriate shut off point for the turn signal. This would be integrated into the design of the vehicle and would be in place of the fixed-shut-off-point mechanical system traditionally used in most vehicles today. The computer controlled system resolves many commonly known shortcomings of the mechanical system, such as prematurely tripping off while sitting at a stop and moving the steering wheel in just the wrong way. Intelliturn also will recognize a sustained straight line path and shut off the turn signal if left on. It will also turn off a turn signal part way through a cloverleaf highway entrance, and recognize a "y" turn, expediently shutting off the turn signal. The mechanical turn signal system was first introduced on the 1940 Buick and has remained the mainstay for turn signal shut off world wide since.
