Iomain Iomain is a Gaelic word, meaning "driving", and is traditionally used in Scotland to refer to Shinty and Irish dialect to Hurling. Since October 2014, however, it refers to a hybrid game formed from shinty and hurling. It is argued that it might replace composite rules shinty–hurling in Scotland-Ireland internationals. Unlike composite rules, it will use a single type of stick for both sides,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Shinty to make history with new game called iomain )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Hybrid of Scots Shinty and Irish Hurling created )〕 and also one goal design. Iomain was played at Croke Park in a demonstration game.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Scots seek victory in Ireland )〕 It is also similar to the ground hurling that was once prevalent in Ireland, but has been superseded by the aerial variety. ==References== 〔
