Jhantla جھانٹلہ is a village in Tehsil Kharian of Gujrat District, Pakistan. It is located about 150 kilometers from Lahore, 17 kilometers from Kharian. Awan is the main tribe of Jhantla. You can see greenery all around the village throughout the year specially in the monsoon season. In the southwest of the village there is a small lush green hill which is used as graveyard of the village. Many people have donated their lands to increase the area of this graveyard. People are hardworking serving in Legal profession, Pakistan army and abroad. Famous people include Malik Muhammad Munawar Awan Advocate High court who started Legal practice in the year 1971, who is our inspiration , We consider him a legacy in the field of Law. He is not only an icon in the field of law but while working as a Secretary of Bar Association Kharian in the year 1982 he built the foundations of the bar with his own hands.and this year is remembered as a golden year in the history of KBA In the year 1997 he was elected as the President of K.B.A, He is the only unopposed President in the history of K.B.A and while working as a President he changed the geographic and political history of district Gujarat by conducting a survey in Sarai-Alamgir with the help of revenue authorities. People of Sarai-Alamgir voted in favor of Gujarat rather than Jhelum and he with the special permission of President of Pakistan got Sarai-Alamgir notified in the geographic limits of district Gujarat.Now Sarai-Alamgir is a Sub-Division of District Gujarat. Also Mr Malik Muhammad Munawar Awan advocate is the one who brought electric power to this village in early 80's.His son Malik Shahzad Munawar Awan advocate High court is carrying the legacy now and recently his paper has been published in Pakistan Law Journal. There is a primary school near the hill and kids have to travel few milles to go to high school in the nearby village. Every year on 25 June people celebrate summer mela and go to three different shrines to pay their tribute to these holy men; one grave is almost 9 yards in length. Jhantla is basically a small village with a population of about 2000 people and area about 3 km in radius. Jhantla is surrounded by villages like Malka, Malagar, Manglia and Golrahashim. Jhantla can be reached from Gulyana/ Manglia road or from Kharian road. People in Jhantla are mostly peace-loving, require basic infrastructure in shape of proper roads, electercity in the streets and development work in order to avoid flood related problems in the moonsoon.
