Jongla is a Finnish platform-independent instant messaging service for Android, Firefox, iOS and Windows Phone devices. Features of the app allow users to send each other text messages, push-to-talk messages, images, videos, location info and stickers. Users can create group chats with up to 50 members and send a single message privately to multiple users with a broadcast feature. In January 2015, Jongla claimed that theirs is the lightest Android instant messaging app in the world with its 2.7MB size. Jongla service uses the user's mobile data plan and Wi-Fi instead of SMS. The app is free to download and free to use. Jongla has been selected as a winner of the (Red Herring’s Top 100 Global award 2013 ), (Best Mobile Service in Finland 2013 award ) and (App Awards 2014 ) with their apps. == Jongla as a company == Jongla is specialising in operator-, device- and platform-independent mobile messaging. It is a Finland-based company founded by Arto Boman and headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. Other offices are located in Jakarta, Indonesia. Jongla has altogether 22 employees, majority of which are located in Helsinki. Jongla CEO is Riku Salminen and the company is owned by a group of private investors and management. Chairman of the board is Juha Halttunen accompanied with board members Arto Boman and Henry Sjöman. Mobile instant messaging is one of the most rapidly growing branches in the world. Jongla's biggest competitors on the market are other instant messaging services like Whatsapp and Viber.
