Joyou is headquartered in Nan’an, Quanzhou in the Chinese province of Fujian and is owned by the holding company Joyou AG, a German stock corporation located in Hamburg.〔〔("Hopes high for Li's visit to Germany" ). The Fuxin Water-Warmth Appliances & Material Factory, in Nan'an, Fujian, was founded in 1988, selling to Chinese wholesalers. The company introduced the brand name Joyou in 1995, and in the early 2000s established a domestic distribution network for its products.
In 2007, by then known as Joyou, the company participated in the development of industry wide standards for plumbing fixtures in China. In 2008 it was one of the sponsors of the Beijing Olympics.
