KDIX (1230 AM, "The Classic 1230") is a radio station licensed to serve Dickinson, North Dakota. The station is owned by Starrdak, Inc. It was purchased by Lee and Darlene Leiss in 1992 and the format was changed from Top 40 Adult Contemporary, to Country Rock and old songs from the 70's through the 80's This format change was to increase focus on the main age demographic of the area. Sports, local news and agriculture information, are their main programming features. KDIX has all new station jingles, $360,000.00 of new broadcast equipment and computers including an 80 thousand dollar HD))) transmitter and remodeled studios. The station became North Dakota's first HD))) High Definition Radio Station in 2007. KDIX has continued to maintain a quality staff without turnover. KDIX is a resourceful local information and news station, with KDIX's programming schedule consisting of news, The Files of Jefferson Clark, weather, agriculture reports, and music consisting of the big country rock and beautiful music. KDIX is also, Dickinson's main sports station, the Voice of The Dickinson State Blue Hawks, Dickinson High Midgets, Dickinson Trinity Titans and area Class "B" schools along with the Dickinson Roughriders Legion Baseball Team with 200 sports broadcasts, plus broadcasts on the World Wide Web at www.kdix.net, and over Consolidated Cable Vision's DSU college channel.
