KESC

KESC (99.7 FM) is a former talk radio station broadcasting from Morro Bay, California to the San Luis Obispo, California area. In 2009 the University of Southern California acquired KXTY, renamed it KESC, and started using it to relay the classical music programming of its own station KUSC (Los Angeles) to the California Central Coast.
The station was previously owned by Salisbury Broadcasting. An acquisition by Mapleton Communications announced in 2006 was not completed.
On August 20, 2007, Lazer Communications acquired the rights to purchase KXTY from Mapleton Communications.〔http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6470001.html〕
On Monday November 19, 2007 the format on KXTY changed from talk to Spanish romantica music.
On February 11, 2009, the University of Southern California announced its intention to purchase KXTY for $1.2 million, adding this signal to its network of stations carrying non-commercial KUSC (Los Angeles). In preparation for the transition to KUSC's classical music format, KXTY went silent on April 22, 2009 (according to 100000watts.com).
On May 13, 2009, a USC press release announced that the station (now KESC) had begun rebroadcasting KUSC's signal.〔http://uscnews.usc.edu/digital_media/kusc_extends_central_coast_service.html〕
