KQAM
KQAM is a news/talk station serving the Wichita, Kansas, market. KQAM broadcasts on 1480 kHz and is under ownership of Steckline Communications. ==History== The 1480 frequency in the 1960s and 1970s was known as KLEO and for many years was Wichita's most popular Top 40 station. Until January 2010, KQAM was owned by The Walt Disney Company and was Wichita's Radio Disney affiliate. It was announced on November 16, 2009 that Disney/ABC will be selling KQAM to Steckline Communications. According to Greg Steckline, the owner of the said company, he wasn't aiming for a purchase but "this one just kind of happened. We just happened to be in the right place at the right time." Steckline paid $350,000 for KQAM. On January 6, 2010, at 1pm Central time, KQAM unveiled the lineup for its talk format as a companion to its sister station KGSO. Steckline Communications also owns KIUL (Garden City, Kansas), KYUL (Scott City, Kansas), and KGYN (Guymon, Oklahoma).
