KYOU-TV
KYOU-TV is the Fox-affiliated television station for the Honey Lands area of Southeastern Iowa and Northeastern Missouri. Licensed to Ottumwa, Iowa, it broadcasts a high definition digital signal on UHF channel 15 from a transmitter one mile east of Richland, Iowa. The station can also be seen in Missouri on Cable One channel 8 (with HD on digital channel 475) and in Iowa on Mediacom channel 9 (in HD on digital channel 815). Owned by American Spirit Media, the station has studios on West 2nd Street in Downtown Ottumwa. KYOU operates one digital repeater, K30MG-D channel 30 in Kirksvillle, to extend its over-the-air coverage; it has a transmitter northwest of that city. KYOU was acquired by Waitt Media in 1999. That company merged with Raycom Media in December 2003. Raycom already owned ABC affiliate KTVO in Kirksville, Missouri at the time and could not legally keep both stations because the market has too few channels to legally permit a duopoly. As a result, KYOU was spun off to Ottumwa Media Holdings, which eventually changed its name to American Spirit Media. On March 27, 2006, Raycom announced that it would sell KTVO along with thirteen other stations across the country to Barrington Broadcasting. The sale closed later that year. However, KYOU still has a shared services agreement with Raycom Media. Until October 2015, KYOU did not have a local newscast. 〔()〕 ==Digital television==
