KDZ -85 stays for the German words “Klein Ziel Drohne” 1985. Small Target drone (first interduced 1985). ==Operation== The KZD-85 UAV uses a compact launcher for takeoff. A parachute-based landing system enables the UAV to land nearly anywhere, also gliding landings on grass or, on snow is practiced by strong wind. It is used as training target (just aim, not shoot) for the Oerlikon 35 mm twin cannon, the FIM-92 Stinger and now also for the Rapier missile. There are no sensors built in.
