Kabulistan

Kabulistan (Pashto/(ペルシア語:کابلستان)) is a historical regional name referring to the territory that is centered on present-day Kabul Province of Afghanistan.〔(txt_030_after )〕〔(Section 14 – The Kingdom of Gaofu (Kabul) )〕 It included the land as far as Peshawar in what is now Pakistan. South of Kabulistan was the region of Afghanistan and to the northwest was Khorasan.
European writers during the 18th to the 20th centuries sometimes referred to Durrani Empire as the ''Kingdom of Caboul''.〔"History of Afghanistan, from the Earliest Period to the Outbreak of the War of 1878", p.2, ''George Bruce Malleson'', Elibron Classics Series, 2005 Media Corporation, (LINK )〕 (More recently "Kabul" has become, like the names of other national capitals, a metonym for the national governmenet (i.e. the Government of Afghanistan).
The earliest rulers of Kabulistan were the Kabul Shahis, who ruled the region between 565 and 879 AD. Kabul Shahis had built a defensive wall around the city of Kabul to protect it against invaders, but despite that, they were conquered by the Saffarids of Zaranj.〔Kohzad, Ahmad Ali, "Kabul Shāhāni Berahmanī", 1944, Kabul〕 The remaining of these walls are still visible over the mountains which are located inside the Kabul city.
