Kachcha-thiva or Katchatheevu or Kachchativu ((タミル語:கச்சத்தீவு), (シンハラ語:කච්චතීවු)) is a uninhabited island administered by Sri Lanka. The island originated from a volcanic eruption that occurred in the 14th century, the island was originally owned by the Ramanad Kingdom of Ramanathapuram district (Tami Nadu) before Indian independence. In 1974 India recognized Sri Lankan ownership of the island on a conditional agreement. It has a Catholic shrine and has been declared a sacred area by the government of India == Geography ==
