Kalbasi

The legend has it that the name kalbasi originates from an area called Howz-a-Karbas. There are currently many variations of this surname in central Iran. Some of these variations are: Karbasi-e-Ashtari, Kalbasi, Kalbasi-e-Ashtari, along with those who have adopted a new surname such as Fahim. The Kalbasi family is known for its prominent Shia leaders, teachers in Islamic jurisprudence, and scholars.
Kalbasi's are descendants of Malik al-Ashtar and his Zoroastrian bride.
