It belongs to the Ihud HaKibbutzim movement.〔Encyclopedia Judaica, Decenniel book, 1973-1982, "State of Israel," p.356〕 The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this. ==Etymology== The name ''Kalya'' is derived from ''kalium'', the Latin name for potassium, a chemical found in abundance in the region.
