Kartica were a five piece indie rock band but as of 2015 they are a four piece. From Sheffield, England. Formed in May 2008, the band was made up of members; Mathew Hook (Vocals), Joe Troughton (Rhythm Guitar), Sam Cotterill (Lead Guitar), Josh Morement (Bass) and Lewis Eshelby (Drums), Mathew Hook has now left the band. Blending a mix of driving guitars and heavy drumbeats with dreamy riffs and anthemic melodies, Kartica achieve a roaring guitar sound with echoes of Oasis, The Verve, Ocean Colour Scene and The Stone Roses.〔(Anotherdiymusicblog.wordpress.com ), Taste the Music: SOS, Kartica.〕 They were described by ''NME'' magazine as "Solid Sheffield indie rock".〔( The Alt Review ), Kartica are the next generation of English rock acts hoping to make it big.〕 In 2011, gigs with The Twang, The South (Ex - Beautiful South) and The Complete Stone Roses,〔(Rocksucker ), Interview Kartica.〕 saw the band's profile rise further. More recently the band have received national press coverage in Mexico and Argentina and been championed by Tom Clarke of The Enemy, 80's US Hip Hop Star 'Casanova Rud' and former England and Man Utd footballer Gary Neville.
