is a city located in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.
The modern city of Kasumigaura was established on March 28, 2005, from the merger of the former town of Kasumigaura, absorbing the town of Chiyoda (both from Niihari District).
The city takes its name from the nearby lake, Lake Kasumigaura (霞ヶ浦). The city has the distinction of having the longest name in Japan (in terms of the number of characters used), together with Ichikikushikino and Tsukubamirai.
As of March 1, 2012 population data, the city has an estimated population of 43,616, with 15,941 households and a population density of 367.23 persons per km². The total area is 118.77 km².
