Khandbari is the district headquarters of Sankhuwasabha District in Kosi Zone of north-eastern Nepal. The 2011 Nepal census counted 26,301 population. A road connects Khandbari directly south to Dharan and the Terai. Khandbari is amongst the top ten most prosperous towns of Nepal. Khandbari's schools include Surya Boarding School, Bagishwari Secondary School and Sunshine English Secondary Boarding School. Arun III Hydropower project will be located nearby. About 3 km north from Khandbari lies another small bazaar known as Manebhanjyang which is an emerging business centre peak in the world.
