Krups is a German kitchen appliance manufacturer part of the Groupe SEB. It is named after its founder Robert Krups. It is often confused with the Krupp conglomerate. The company also produces a large variety of household appliances. Krups competes with De'Longhi, Sunbeam, Braun, Russell Hobbs, Bosch and Black & Decker. ==History== The company began in 1846 manufacturing precision scales and mainly industrial balances, in Wald, now a district of Solingen in North Rhine-Westphalia. This was the company's main "bread-and-butter" for the next 110 years. * 1951- Following the 1950s postwar reconstruction and economic boom in Germany, Krups moved into the lucrative consumer appliance arena. * 1959- Releases the highly popular ''3Mix'' (German, ''Drei-Mix'') mixing machine- soon a fixture in almost every second West German household. * 1961 Releases the ONKO coffee machine- Which was available as the F468 until 2014. * 1965- launches first slicer- highly popular in Germany where sausage (''wurst'') and cheese are consumed as staples. * 1983- first coffee machines released * 1990- Krups employs 3000 people in four German factories, one in Limerick, Ireland with annual revenue of DM 541 million.
