Lakshmipuram (L.Pudhupatti) is a village in south Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated at the foothills of the Western Ghats, from the city of Theni. It is from Periyakulam on NH 47. The population of this village is over 10,000+.It is located on Latitude - 10° 4'38.55"N, Longitude - 77°31'11.41"E. The village is accessible by bus, while the nearest railway stations are in Theni, Dindukkal and Madurai. The people here are agrarian based. The main crops cultivated are Sugarcane and Maize. 'Kaliamman kovil Pongal' is a one week festival celebrated in this village. One of the festival activities is Sirappu an occasion during which people of the village gather near the foothills of the mountain to pray the savior god Karuppasamy and have a samapanthi(where people irrespective of caste and color are served with food). The menu includes lamb, chicken, egg and rice. Though the fun part is to have a get together with the entire village. Unlike other agrarian villages, education is given more importance,so many people from this village are working all around the globe. This village is having higher percentage of literacy rate. At least one person is graduated from every household. This village won the nirmal purashkar award twice from the Indian government. It is a well constructed village. The school's located on this village are Lakshmipuram panchayat school, Govt. Hr.Sec. School, Renuga Vidyalaya Matriculation Hr.Sec. School and a Christian elementary school.
