Ligonchio is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Emilia in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about west of Bologna and about southwest of Reggio Emilia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 976 and an area of .〔All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.〕 The municipality of Ligonchio contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Caprile, Casalino, Cinquecerri, Montecagno, Ospitaletto, Piolo, and Vaglie.
