Zero Band () are a Chinese rock band from Inner Mongolia.〔Edward L. Davis ''Encyclopedia of Contemporary Chinese Culture'' 2009 Page 712 "Black Panther turned to pop rock, a genre that is also popular with Zang Tianshuo, Point Zero (Lingdian), Baojia Rd. No.43"〕 The lead singer is Zhou Xiaoou (周晓鸥). The English name "Zero Band" was used in Beijing concert advertisements,〔(The Beijinger.com )〕 though the band did not originally use an English name; the name has also been translated as "Point Zero" in some older English publications. The band appeared on the Jingwen label in China, but were licensed outside China by JVC.〔''China With a Cut: Globalisation, Urban Youth and Popular Music'' 2010 Page 87 "Globalisation, Urban Youth and Popular Music. JVC Hong Kong has licensed the Mongolian pop-rock band Ling Dian from Jingwen for the market outside China. It states in the promotional material: "... Ling Dian has chosen to express their emotions through their music. (...) There has never been a Mongolian rock group before that can compare with Ling Dian. As originators of a sound they continue to develop a pop/rock sound that has the capacity to appeal to a wide audience. The Mongols are truly on the March!"〕 One of the top Beijing bands at the end of the 1990s, Lingdian originally suffered the same resistance from government-owned venues as other indigenous PRC rock bands.〔Simon Broughton, Mark Ellingham, Richard Trillo ''The Rough Guide to World Music'' Volume 2 ''Latin and North America Caribean India Asia'' 2000 Page 52-53 ""in hand with a suspicion of indigenous Chinese rock.
