Lipocarpha

''Lipocarpha'' is a genus of sedges known as halfchaff sedges. There are approximately 35 species and representatives can be found throughout the tropical and warmer temperate areas of Africa, Asia (China, India, Indonesia, etc), Australia, North America, South America and various oceanic islands.〔(Kew World Checklist of Selected Plant Families )〕〔(Flora of North America, ''Lipocarpha'' )〕〔(Flora of China, Vol. 23 Page 249, 湖瓜草属 hu gua cao shu, ''Lipocarpha'' R. These flower stands in the axil of a spikelet-bract.〔Govaerts, R. & Simpson, D.A. (2007). World Checklist of Cyperaceae. Sedges: 1-765. The Board of Trustees of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. 〕
