The show stars a small furry alien creature named Luntik, who hatched on the moon and fell to Earth. The action takes place in a forest glade near the pond. Most of the characters are mainly small anthropomorphic animals: insects, fish, frogs, etc., playing roles of adults and children. The main characters learn about the world as well as relationships in society. In fact, the series shows a child's view of the world. There are no entirely negative characters; the two mischievous caterpillars and often a hysterical leech have a multifaceted nature in which there are positive traits. The series runs in a format of 6-minute episodes, each unfolding in a separate, complete story. In fact, as each episode's story is complete, viewers can watch the episodes in any order. The show premiered on the TV channel Russia-1 and was broadcast for 8 years from 1 September 2006 until 15 May 2014. Later it moved to the animated series branch channel "Russian Culture" since 16 June 2014.
