In Greek mythology, Lycorus pronounced lahy-ker-is〔http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/lycoris〕, or Lycoreus was a son of Apollo and the nymph Corycia.〔Hyginus, ''Fabulae'', 161〕 After him a city was named Lycoreia (later Delphi, after Delphus, great-grandson of Lycorus).
