Macroshock (mak´ro-shok″) is a medical term for the effects of body exposition to electrical current, which can lead to electrocution and death. It is used regularly in electrophysiology and bioengineering. Definitions of macroshock in the medical world are inconsistent. Some sources use the term for any electrical current in excess of 10 mA passing through the skin and into the body, others require the current to pass through the trunk or the heart. There is little consistency provided to accurately define the term macroshock.
