The word ''mahi'' refers to ''banana'' so as the Village contains plenty of banana gardens this Village got the name Mahendrawada. There are mostly rice mills and poultry farms, making a good business. Mahendrawada is situated 40 kilometres from Rajahamundry and 50 kilometres from Kakinada (District Headquarters) It has high fertile lands and paddy fields costing 12 lakhs an acre and a canal (from river Godavari) flowing nearby to the village. It is situated between the northern latitudes of 16 * 30' and 18 * and between 81 * 30' and 82 * 30' of the eastern longitudes. The majority of the residents of this village are of the same social caste Reddy, Bhumanchi Reddy. The town is quiet in nature and almost every person who lives here has his own recognition. The main business of this village is financing (lending money). Other than financiers, also software engineers, contractors, politicians, doctors and social workers made this village famous.
