Mallapally
Mallappally (meaning "hill shrine" in Malayalam, from മല ''mala'' "hill" + ''pally'' "shrine") is a taluk in Kerala state in India. It is one of the five taluks that make up the Pathanamthitta district. Even though geographically it belongs to Pathanamthitta District, it is closer in distance to its adjacent Kottayam district. Historically a part of the kingdom of Travancore and called "Land of the BA people" due to English education imparted by Anglican missionaries in the 19th century, Mallappally is the original home of a large number of Non-resident Indians who live abroad, and it has some of the lowest population growth and highest literacy rates in India. == Mallappally bridge & market == It is the hard work of, late Mr. Abraham Payampallil who made his maximum effort to bring a market to the town and the Mallappally bridge was also his effort. Now this market is having a great demand for plantain cultivars.
