Mantellinae is a subfamily of frogs in the family Mantellidae. These frogs are native to Madagascar and Mayotte. These frogs are usually quite small and superficially resemble poison dart frogs of the tropical Americas. Indeed, most Mantellinae are also rather poisonous, with brilliant aposematic coloration, making them a nice example of convergent evolution. Altogether, there are nearly 100 described species in this subfamily. ==Systematics== For long, 2 genera were included here: * ''Mantella'' (16 species) * ''Mantidactylus'' (over 80 species) ''Mantidactylus'' includes ''Blommersia'', ''Boehmantis'', ''Gephyromantis'', ''Guibemantis'', ''Spinomantis'' and ''Wakea'', which are often considered separate genera in recent times.
