MasFlight
masFlight was a US cloud-based, big data, SaaS aviation software and data services company based in Bethesda, Maryland, with offices in Reston, VA and Ontario, CA. The company was founded in 2010 and was acquired by Global Eagle Entertainment on August 4, 2015.〔http://investors.geemedia.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=926448 Global Eagle Acquires masFlight and navAero for Foundation of New Operations Solutions Platform, Retrieved Aug 23, 2015〕 The company is now part of the GEE Operations Solutions business unit. masFlight focused on the collection and analysis of large amounts of commercial aircraft operational data globally, from sources such as global flight information systems, schedules, ADS-B and proprietary information sources. masFlight's technology used the cloud to store daily flight profiles and tracks of individual commercial aircraft, of which there are tens of thousands worldwide. The company sold this data and analysis to airlines and related parties such as aircraft lessors and aircraft OEMs. An aircraft lessor, for instance, might have used masFlight to oversee the operation of its aircraft. It is a potential matter of concern for an aircraft lessor if one of their leased aircraft unexpectedly ceases operation or is otherwise used not in accordance with the lease. masFlight is a Strategic Partner of the International Air Transport Association (IATA)〔http://www.iata.org/html_email/ns1003296/ns1003296-full.html, IATA Press Releases, Retrieved October 5, 2015〕 The company was regularly cited in media reports on commercial aviation issues, including the Wall St Journal,〔http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-cities-that-have-lost-the-most-flights-1437585049 Cities That Lost the Most Flights, Retrieved July 24, 2015〕 CNBC,〔http://www.cnbc.com/2015/03/02/tab-for-winter-flight-cancellations-24-billion.html Tab for Winter Flight Cancellations, Retrieved July 24, 2015〕 CNN,〔http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/26/news/companies/storm-travel-costs/ Blizzard Costs Fliers Big Bucks, Retrieved July 27, 2014〕 TIME Magazine 〔http://time.com/money/3682404/storm-cancelled-flights/ 5 Strategies for Dealing with your Flight Cancellation, Retrieved July 27, 2015〕 and Bloomberg News.〔http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2014-02-03/airlines-sales-seen-cut-up-to-150-mln-on-winter-storms Airline Sales Seen Cut up to $150 Million on Winter Storms, Retrieved July 24, 2015〕 ==References==
