Maripur or Mauripur ((ウルドゥー語: ماری پور )) is one of the neighbourhoods of Kiamari Town in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.〔(Kiamari Town - Government of Karachi )〕 There are several ethnic groups in Maripur and they include Muhajirs, Sindhis, Punjabis, Kashmiris, Seraikis, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis, etc. Over 99% of the population is Muslim. The population of Kiamari Town is estimated to be nearly one million. It is located in the Mauripur area of Karachi, in the Sindh province. The base was originally known as RPAF Station Mauripur and after 1956, as PAF Station Mauripur. It is of immense strategic importance considering it has been entrusted upon the task of defending the coastal and Southern region of Pakistan.
