Meliskerke is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Veere, and lies about 8 km west of Middelburg. Meliskerke was a separate municipality until 1966, when it was merged into the new municipality of Mariekerke.〔Ad van der Meer and Onno Boonstra, "Repertorium van Nederlandse gemeenten", KNAW, 2006. ()〕 In 2001, the village of Meliskerke had 1201 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.30 km², and contained 372 residences.〔Statistics Netherlands (CBS), ''Bevolkingskernen in Nederland 2001'' (). As of 1 January 2005.〕 Meliskerke is a conservative Protestant village, located on the Dutch Bible Belt. In the 2010 municipal elections, 63 percent of the local population voted for the Reformed Political Party (SGP).
