According to the 2006 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 880 inhabitants. ==Its Limits and its population== The village lies among the purest natural areas in Europe. It is 207.74 km2, which makes this village one of the vaster municipalities in Spain; being its population of 880 inhabitants, Membrío is 66 km away from the town of Cáceres and within 30 km of the Portuguese frontier. The village constitutes a symbol of how natural and simple life can conquer the hearts of urban people. Membrío celebrates, on every August 15, a holiday dedicated to Saint Mary: Our Lady of Grace. During the holidays, Membrío duplicates and even triplicates its population, due to all Membrio emigrants and their families coming back for a few days.
