MetroGIS is an award-winning geospatial collaborative organization primarily serving the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. Relying upon voluntary participation, MetroGIS’ primary functions focus on fostering: :a) development and implementation collaborative regional solutions to shared information needs (geospatial data, data standards and best practices), :b) widespread sharing of geospatial data, principally via the DataFinder.org web site; :c) the value of geographic information system (GIS) technology as a core business tool, and :d) knowledge sharing relevant to the advancement of GIS technology.
