Mezzocorona borders the following municipalities: Mezzolombardo, Ton, Roverè della Luna, San Michele all'Adige and Nave San Rocco. The name was derived from ''mezzo'' (means middle or in between) and ''corona'' (means crown, related to nearby castle), Mezzolombardo (''mezzo''-''lombardo'') was part of the area but split into two in 1194. Another explanation was mezzo came from local dialect, which ''mez'' means wet.
