''Mixcoatlus'' is a small genus of pit vipers endemic to Mexico. The genus was created in 2011. The name ''Mixcoatlus'' is derived from the Nahuatl word ''Mixcoatl'' or "cloud serpent", a deity of the Aztec and several other Mesoamerican civilizations.
